The Marathon City Heritage Center is hosting a “Wedding Whispers Exhibit” that opens Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 10a to 2p. The themed exhibit includes several decades of wedding dresses and related apparel and decorations. Children and families are also encouraged to come to the Heritage Center on May 14 to create paper flower crafts.
The wedding dress exhibit will remain on display throughout the summer during typical exhibit hours or by special appointment. The center is located at 301 Main Street, Marathon, the former Peoples State Bank building at the corner of Second and Main streets. It is regularly open the second Sunday of each month from 10a to 2p or by appointment.
The center is opening the exhibit on May 14th (instead of May 8th) as one of the special events being held in conjunction with the Marathon City Downtown Open House weekend. More details about the Downtown Open House will be posted on the Marathon City 2020 website at www.marathoncity2020.com.
The Marathon City Heritage Center is a joint collaboration between the Marathon County Historical Society and Marathon City 2020 Ltd. Many of the center’s initial collections on display are on loan from the Marathon County Historical Society.
