Peoples State Bank donates property to Marathon City 2020 Ltd.

Marathon, WI – Peoples State Bank is giving back to the local community with their recent donation of property to the Marathon City 2020 Ltd organization. The donation consists of their 1,800 square foot former branch office building and lot at the corner of Second and Main streets in Marathon which they vacated in 2012.

Until recently, the Marathon City 2020 board had been granted permission from Peoples State Bank to utilize the building as the temporary home for the Marathon City Heritage Center until a permanent site could be secured. The property donation will now allow Marathon City 2020 to permanently house the Marathon City Heritage Center at 301 Main St., and collect cultural and historical assets at the site, including artifacts, data, memorabilia, photos and apparel.

Marathon City 2020 Ltd. is a community-based, non-profit organization that was formed in 2015 to provide leadership and support for the economic advancement of Marathon City and surrounding communities. The board’s mission is focused on identifying, developing and implementing effective and creative strategies to promote Marathon City’s assets; recruit and retain business and residential development; ensure the community’s long-term sustainability; and preserve and promote the Village’s long, vibrant history.

The property donation will substantially support Marathon City 2020’s efforts to promote the village’s rich assets and continued economic development.
